How
and where in the Middle East & North
Africa you should protect yourself from
Malaria?
In the Middle
East & North Africa:
"Risk" of Malaria in certain
areas of Algeria,
Egypt, Iran, Iraq, Morocco, Oman, Saudi Arabia, Syria, Turkey, United Arab
Emirates, Yemen, .
"No Risk" of Malaria in
Bahrain, Cyprus, Jordan, Kuwait, Lebanon,
Libya, Qatar, Tunisia.
Malaria is transmitted by Mosquitoes
that bite during the time between dusk
and dawn.
Protect yourself by wearing long
sleeved shirts and long pants.
Apply insect repellent to exposed skin. Use an
insect repellent that contains "DEET"
(diethylmethyltoluamide), in 30%–35%
strength for adults
and 6%–10% for
children.
Use a pyrethroid
containing flying-insect spray in living &
sleeping areas.
Purchase a bed net
impregnated with the insecticide
permethrin,
from camping stores, unless you are staying in
well-screened accommodation.
Wash
skin from "DEET"
after you come indoors. Do
not breath, swallow, splash
the eyes, nor
apply it to broken skin and wounds.
