The Phoenicians came from Lebanon and Syria on the eastern Mediterranean coast, established "Carthage" in the 8th century BC, as the first organized state, home town of "Hannibal" who set to invade Rome; "Carthage" was later defeated by the Romans and in 146 BC demolished, to be rebuilt later; Then came the Roman rule, which was interrupted by the arrival of the Vandals, who ruled for almost a hundred years, and whose leader Genseric in 455 AD plundered Rome. The Romans regained Power in 533 AD and were defeated by the Moslem Arabs in 647 AD. For the next several hundred years the region was governed by various dynasties and rulers, under all kinds of arrangements, alliances and convictions.
