| The
ancient Egyptians left great monuments as a witness
to a great civilization. Egypt was ruled later
by the different powers of the region , Greeks,
Romans, Arabs, Turks and Europeans. Egypt is the
product of all these influences with the Arab
Islamic influence as the most continuing in terms
of culture and tradition. Cairo, the largest city
in Africa, is a manifestation of all the preceding
influences. Egypt is rich in historic and tourist
destinations, including cities, desert areas,
Sinai and Red Sea Resorts. |

Tunisia |
| Tunisia
has an interesting and diverse history, a product
of all the people and influences that inhabited
and ruled the region. The Phoenicians came from
Lebanon and Syria on the eastern Mediterranean
coast, established "Carthage" in the
8th century BC, as the first organized state,
home town of "Hannibal" who set to invade
Rome; "Carthage" was later defeated
by the Romans and in 146 BC demolished, to be
rebuilt later; Then came the Roman rule, which
was interrupted by the arrival of the Vandals,
who ruled for almost a hundred years, and whose
leader Genseric in 455 AD plundered Rome. The
Romans regained Power in 533 AD and were defeated
by the Moslem Arabs in 647 AD. For the next several
hundred years the region was governed by various
dynasties and rulers, under all kinds of arrangements,
alliances and convictions. Then came the Spanish
influence, followed by the Ottomans(Turks) and
Europeans until independence in 1956 |

| Morocco |
| Morocco,
known in Arabic as "al-Maghreb", encompasses
a varied and rich tradition of many historical
influences and ethnic backgrounds. The original
inhabitants of North Africa (natives-Berbers)
mixed with the different powers that came to be,
the Phoenicians (since 8th century
BC) who came from Lebanon & Syria and established
"Carthage" in present day Tunisia, then
the Romans (2nd century BC), Vandals
(5th century AD), Islam and the Arabs
(7th century AD, who crossed the strait
of "Gibraltar" or "Jabal Tareq"
to Spain), Ottomans (Turks) and Europeans until
independence. These influences can be seen in
the people and the architecture of the famous
Moroccan cities of Marrakesh, Fes, Meknes, Rabat,
Casablanca and Tangier. |
